South Forty Foot Upper Catchment Natural Flood Management Studies

South Forty Foot Upper Catchment Natural Flood Management Studies (NFM)

We have obtained funding from the RFCC to undertake studies of our Upper Catchments in order to prepare business cases to attract further funding for NFM works throughout the catchments.

Our c20,000 hectare Upper Catchment has been divided into seven sub-catchments and priorities into the following order:-

  1. Aslackby

  2. Morton

  3. Rippingale

  4. Billingborough

  5. Helpringham

  6. Heckington

The seventh sub-catchment is Swaton which has had its NFM studies completed by the Environment Agency with works about to start on the ground this Spring.

A small team of experts fronted by Lesley Sharpe will be walking the catchments throughout 2020 to identify all possible NFM options, they will be contacting all landowners/farmers beforehand but should you wish to contact them please use Lesley’s email Lesley.sharpe@live.co.uk or twitter account @sharpe_lesley.

Lesley will also be speaking at the upcoming ‘Championing the Farmed Environment’ event on the 4th March 2020, 9.45am – 1.00pm at St. Mary’s Church Hall, Rose Lane, Pinchbeck. PE11 3RN where she will be focusing on available grants including Countryside Stewardship Mid-Tier 2020 applications, please see the previous news link - CFE Pick 'n Mix event.
