Operations Manager

Grade 8, SP 31 (29-32), 4x4 vehicle provided
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer

Overall Purpose

The OM controls all maintenance and capital works operations carried out by the Board, working with the CEO and Finance Manager to develop Board policies and strategies. The ability to visualise and plan ahead is paramount, it is the responsibility of the OM to formulate achievable operational action plans.

Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities:-

  • Attend Boston & South Holland, South Kesteven and Lincoln Drainage Group Meetings if necessary
  • Attend Committee and Board Meetings to present reports
  • Promote (ensure compliance of) Health & Safety (legislation) and good practice by both workforce and contractors
  • Prepare annual Health & Safety report
  • To be the first point of contact and liaison officer with the Boards Health & Safety advisors
  • Organise and control specialist operational subcontractors employed by the Board
  • Liaise with PEO over surface water and drainage problems
  • Scheme identification and preparation
  • FDGIA preparation, technical input and administration with CEO & FM
  • Prepare Engineers reports
  • Liaise with OS relating to the handling of discipline and grievance with the workforce
  • Plan maintenance and improvement works with the OS
  • Liaise with OS and PE with reference to emergency and out of hours working
  • Set and manage objectives for the PE, TE, OS & P&EO
  • Estimate costs of rechargeable and contract works
  • Supervise production of detailed drawings and specifications
  • Overall responsibility for monitoring the conditions of the Board's drains and pumping stations
  • Transport Manager
  • Investigate and advise on the purchase of new plant and equipment
  • Liaise with OS relating to land access and compensation
  • Review and monitor the Board's operations in line with the Environmental Policy
  • Overall control of Operational Risk Assessments & Safe Systems of works
  • Overall Control that Operational Board Policies are adhered to.
  • The daily supervision of subordinates
  • Any other duties that are reasonably asked of you
